Thanks for the info. Do you still live inthe area? I still have family there which brings me back for visits several times a year. I've always wanted to converse with someone who was familiar with this place, but I never knew where to start.

The gas station as well as the general store next to it and most of the surrounding community are owned by the Phelps family, my in laws. Nitta Yuma is the name of the plantation. As to your question of service, color made no difference in rural communities. My grandfather in law, who died in 1987, pumped gas and sold groceries to anyone. He especially enjoyed the black children who came to buy candy and ice cream after school. I witnessed this many times. The family has preserved what they could just as he left it.

Unfortunately, no. I used Artscow.com to get my entry developed because I was going to be in rural Mississippi where I couldn't do it myself. They flaked; I just got them today. The even more upsetting part is I think my photo could've placed.

Congrats! 50 seems like a lot. But when you do a blog about something that you love, the milestones fly by.
I love the picture you chose.
The clean outline of the person (child I assume?) and the different lines and compostion are all great.

I noticed the detail of his glasses, very cool.
And at first I thought they were looking at you. But then I looked closer, and read your post again, and realized they were looking away.
