We have finally touched down...

...in Cajun Country. Actually, we are in Kenner just outside of New Orleans staying with family until we find a place in the city. Actually, we've found a place but we're trying to save some money before we start paying house bills again. I don't have that much summer left and since the unpacking/settling in process has been a little-by-little day-by-day thing, there hasn't been much time for taking new pictures.

Today, the wife and I were going out to lunch. While walking to the car, my wife spotted this egret in a tree just over the fence in the neighbor's yard. I went back inside to grab my camera and luckily the bird was still there. I snapped a few shots and this one was the better of the bunch. I can't wait to really get into New Orleans and document the culture. I have so many ideas of so many things I want to do that I don't know where to start. I love new beginnings, new opportunities, fresh futures. If I can get this in my own backyard, imagine what I can find when I go looking.
